The percentage of employees undertaking Employee Volunteering decreased by two percentage points from FY19 to FY20. This is primarily due to the impacts of COVID-19 and the limitations charities faced regarding taking on volunteers safely during this period.
Employee Volunteering participation rate is defined as the total number of employees that recorded volunteering leave each financial year divided by the total number of employees (by headcount) as at 30 June in the corresponding year.
Up to and including FY17, employees were counted as having participated in volunteering if they took four or more hours of volunteering leave. From FY18, any employee recording volunteering leave is included, regardless of the number of hours of leave registered.
Data does not include AGL’s Southern Phone Company and Perth Energy employees.
