Operational greenhouse gas footprint (by activity type)

During FY20, emissions from coal fired generation decreased, largely due to a prolonged outage of Unit 2 at Loy Yang A Power Station. Emissions from gas fired generation decreased due to decreased generation from AGL Torrens as the new Barker Inlet Power Station came on line in the second half of FY20.

  • These figures include scope 1 and scope 2 emissions for facilities which AGL had operational control over during the period, regardless of who owns the asset. Assets where AGL controls or has rights to the electricity output only are not included.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated in accordance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act methodologies.

  • Figures have been rounded up to the nearest ktCO2e.

  • FY20 data was updated in December 2020. Data was not available at the time of the initial release of the 2020 ESG Data Centre on 13 August 2020.

  • In FY20 AGL acquired Perth Energy and Southern Phone Company; the offices from these entities are included in the Corporate Activities category.
