Air emissions - particulates (PM10)
Emissions at AGL Torrens (which includes the Barker Inlet Power Station) decreased 14% compared to FY19, mainly due to a 15% reduction in total pipeline natural gas combusted at the facility. Emissions from the Barker Inlet Power Station contributed approximately 6% of PM10 emissions reported for AGL Torrens. Barker Inlet Power Station emissions are also the result of combustion of pipeline natural gas.
Emissions at AGL Loy Yang decreased 22% compared to FY19 results. The decrease in emissions is in part due to a 31% reduction of emissions since FY19 measured by Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEMS) of the Loy Yang A Power Station stacks, as well as a 17% reduction in dust produced from general open areas, material handling, and vehicle movement at the facility since FY19.
Emissions at the Bayswater Power Station dropped 62% compared to FY19, likely resulting from variations in average stack test results.
Emissions at the Liddell Power Station increased 4% compared to FY19 results. This is mainly due to increased fugitive PM10 production from site open areas, material handling, and vehicle movement on site. Emissions measured from stack exhaust remained relatively similar to FY19 (increase 1%), due to lower average stack test results in the reporting period, and increased total exhaust gas flow.
FY20 data was updated in December 2020. A subset of data (comprising emissions associated with the combustion of black coal at Bayswater and Liddell power stations, black and brown coal as well as natural gas at AGL Loy Yang Power Station, and gas and fuel oil at AGL Torrens) was reported with the initial release of the FY20 Annual Report on 13 August 2020.
For the purposes of this data set, AGL Torrens comprises the Torrens Island Power Station and the Barker Inlet Power Station which commenced operation in December 2019.
All figures have been restated to the nearest kilogram.
The National Assets were sold in FY19.
Wallumbilla LPG Plant became operational in 2016 hence NPI reporting for this site commenced in FY17.
